Deciding where you want to give birth is an important decision! Understanding the pros and cons of your different birth options can help you with this decision so you make the right choice for you and your family. Even if you know you would like to opt for the natural birth route, choosing the right birth center that fits your goals and desires for birth is imperative.
The best way to learn about this is to attend an open house and explore your options yourself. On the second Tuesday of every month, we host our open house event at the Birth Center of New Jersey.

- Meet the team
When you’re thinking of delivering at a birth center, it is helpful to meet the team so you can get to know them beforehand and build relationships. During the open house, our staff and midwives will be there so you can learn what it would be like to get care with our team and hear about our prenatal and postpartum care services.
Meeting the team beforehand eases some of the anxiety that you might have as you grow familiar with the place and its people, and we are happy to provide you with all the information you may need and make you comfortable with your decision of giving birth at a birth center.
- Experience the feeling of our space
Part of the open house experience is getting to tour the birth center and see what our space feels like in action. You can see our private birthing rooms and common areas and visualize how you could fit in here on your big day!
When you visit our space, it helps you know exactly what you’re signing up for. We encourage you to come with your partner, look at our care and the facilities, and ask any questions about the birthing process.
- Become comfortable with the center
One of the major benefits of opting for the birth center is that you get to give birth in a home-like environment with a shorter stay away from home. Visiting the open house will help you get comfortable with the birth center. You get familiar with the space and the different places the birth center has, so you can easily navigate through it.
Birthing or labor can be a very stressful process, and you want to make sure that you are at ease and surrounded by comfort. Being familiar with the environment and the space helps you do just that.
