30 Mar Our Model of Care
Pregnancy is an important time in every woman’s life. Making the right choices along the way is important to make sure you’re happy and healthy throughout your pregnancy and that your baby gets to grow in a nurturing environment.
Choosing a healthcare provider plays a big role in that. It is important to consider the model of care you are looking for and if the birthing facility is aligned with your goals.
What Is A Model Of Care?
Model of care refers to how a facility delivers its services. It directs the amount of input the healthcare providers and patients get in making decisions about the health and wellness of the patient.
What Is The Model Of Care At The Birth Center Of New Jersey?
At the Birth Center of New Jersey, we offer client-centered care. This is also known as patient-centered care and as the name suggests, it places the mother at the center of the decision-making regarding their health. As a mother-to-be, you get to make decisions about your mode of delivery, what kind of interventions you’re open to, what kind of interventions you don’t need from us. You can decide how involved you want us to be regarding your care.
We are nothing without our clients. Our belief is that the client and the family always come first and that the midwives and staff will be as flexible as possible when it comes to fulfilling client needs. We are humbled and awed by the chance to be involved in this sacred time in a woman’s life. Our midwives partner with our clients and put them in charge of their own care. We see each woman as our equal and recognize that each client is a whole person, not just a body, and through education, providing choices, and gently guiding, we offer a woman self-determination in her reproductive and birthing choices.
What Are The Benefits Of This Care?
The idea behind client-centered care is to make patients feel comfortable and content with the care they are receiving. Some notable benefits include:
- Improved level of satisfaction with the kind of care you’re receiving
- Enhanced level of comfort with your healthcare providers
- Better productivity amongst the healthcare providers since they have a better idea of what to do
- Resource allocation is similarly improved since we know what the client does and does not need
- It avoids needless interventions that the client might not be content with
